How Do You Cure a Toothache?
A toothache is the sharp pain that is experienced around a tooth due to the swelling of the pulp as a result of tooth cavity, which is one of the many reasons for tooth decay.
We can avoid getting a toothache by dealing with tooth decay, this, by avoiding too much snacks in our daily routines, since they have sugars which tend to combine with plaque present in your mouth to generate an acid which damages your teeth, and visiting the dentist regularly.
Taking a painkiller can go a long way in easing pain that pounds your head due to a toothache. When you have a toothache, special nerve endings send pain messages back to your brain and so painkilling drugs interfere with these messages, in order to cut out pain in your tooth.
Be creative and create a cold compress using a Ziploc bag and filling it with a lot of ice, as this will go a long way in easing the pain that you’re feeling in your tooth and spreading quick to your head.
You could also use a salt rinse to ease the pain of your toothache, by mixing is 1/2 teaspoon table salt, or sea salt, to 8 ounces of water, and gargling it then spitting it out instead of swallowing it.
Go back to first aid basics by cleaning the area using a cotton swab dipped in Hydrogen Peroxide as it will disinfect the area and ease the pain, but do not forget to rinse your mouth with water and avoid swallowing the Hydrogen peroxide.
Natural remedies work just as fine as some of the drugs obtained in stores and thus a cotton swab dipped in fresh clove oil and gently rubbed over the tooth is no exception.
Peppermint tea is yet another natural remedy to your toothache trouble, which, by putting one teaspoon of dried peppermint leaves in a cup of boiling water and steeping for approximately 20 minutes, swishing it around your mouth and spitting it, you can quickly relieve your pain.
While we may wish to go all natural, over the counter drugs have an assured relied since they are manufactured for that purpose and contain a substance known as benzocaine, which generally relieves pain in the mouth by numbing it.
Finally, if you loathe such pain and if you look forward to having none of it again, it is advisable that you see a doctor for further treatment and guidance, to prevent the recurrence and treat any other problems, as well as to get proper medication.
